Is this just another Strelok clone?
Strelok Pro and Applied Ballistics are mature solvers that a lot of people rely on, and this page is not pretending otherwise. What is different here: one purchase instead of a subscription, no account anywhere including at purchase, a full audit trail instead of a black box, a sight picture instead of a reticle library, and a policy of stating exactly what has been verified rather than making a general accuracy claim. What is also different, honestly: those apps have years of runtime and user feedback behind them and this one does not. That is precisely why this page shows the actual published numbers, checked against four manufacturers, instead of asking for trust.
How do I know your numbers are right?
Check them. The comparison above gives the computed and published values to the digit, so the delta is yours to verify. Ask at support@directdope.app and the full derivations will be sent to you. Inside the app, every solve carries an audit page at the same level of detail plus a copy-everything button. As of today that verification covers 14 published tables from four manufacturers, nine cartridges, both the G1 and G7 drag models, level fire only, stated plainly rather than rounded up. Finding inconsistencies in more than one manufacturer's own published data, including a Remington drift column that disagrees with Remington's own velocities and a Hornady ballistic coefficient that does not reproduce Hornady's own table, is offered as evidence of the process, not as a finished accuracy claim.
Has it actually been shot?
Not yet. It has been checked against a manufacturer's published table, which is a numeric check and not a live-fire one. A live-fire validation protocol is written and planned. Until it runs, this page will keep saying exactly this.
What happens when the company disappears?
The app is built so that question has a real answer instead of a reassurance. There is no license server it phones home to, no account it needs, and an offline or failed entitlement check never revokes something already unlocked. If TerminaLLM LLC stopped existing tomorrow, the solver, your profiles, and your DOPE log keep working, because none of it was ever waiting on permission from a server. What is not promised: that a delisted app stays available in the Play Store forever, or that a phone lost without a backup can be un-lost. That is why local file backup and export is a feature rather than an afterthought.
Does it need a signal, a rangefinder, or a Kestrel?
No to all three. Every input can be typed in by hand. Station pressure reads off the phone's barometer. Nothing about running a solve depends on a paired device or a bar of signal.
Does it include maps, parcels, or public land data?
No, deliberately. DirectDOPE answers where a bullet lands, not whether you are allowed to be standing where you fired from. That is a scope decision, not a missing feature, and it is not planned to change.
What about my scope's specific reticle?
DirectDOPE does not depict or claim support for any brand-name reticle. The sight picture renders the target at true angular size with a generic aim marker, which works the same regardless of what reticle is on the rifle.
What cartridges and bullets does it handle?
The physics is general: drag, atmosphere, spin drift, Coriolis, aerodynamic jump, inclined fire. Any load with a known ballistic coefficient can be entered. Verification against published data is the slow, honest part, and today that means 14 published tables across four manufacturers and nine cartridges, all level fire. Inclined fire, spin drift, Coriolis and aerodynamic jump are not yet checked against any published table, because no manufacturer publishes one that isolates them.
iOS?
Android first. The architecture is built so iOS is not blocked later, but there is no iOS date to give.
